John Blankenship has been a commercial arbitrator for over two decades. He was appointed to the American Arbitration Association panel of arbitrators 1987. A large part of his practice is devoted to serving as an arbitrator of commercial, real estate and construction disputes. He has served as either a sole arbitrator or as a member on three-arbitrator panels in hundreds of cases.   His experience includes both domestic and international cases and involves administered and non-administered cases. John is the only Tennessee arbitrator to be elected as a Fellow in the College of Commercial Arbitrators in which he serves as a member of the Board of Directors.   He is a published author and frequent lecturer and trainer in arbitration matters and he often serves as a consultant to businesses and law firms in arbitration matters. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers® in the field of ADR again for the year 2012.

Mr. Blankenship’s arbitrator case experience includes:

  • Member of AAA mediator and arbitrator panels since 1987.  As arbitrator served on numerous AAA and private construction and commercial cases both domestic and international (e.g. over 200 AAA cases) with claims from under $10,000 to over $120,000,000.  As mediator served on numerous AAA and private mediations (e.g. over 300 private mediations).
  • Multi state/international experience in arbitration/mediation includes cases in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, Ohio, Massachusetts, California, New Jersey and Mexico.
